Cinque Terre to Venice

Church coming in to Porto Venere. Our beach chairs are on the far left.

We had a great 3 days in Monterosso in the Cinque Terre. We got in at noon on our first day and spent a few hours at the beach, soaking in the Mediterranean and drinking a couple of Italian birra. That afternoon we did an hour and a half hike to Vernassa where we watched the sunset and ate dinner. We caught the train back to Monterosso and our hotel.
The next day we trained back to Vernassa and started the rest of our hike to the remaining villages. We took over an hour of good up and down hiking to Corniglia and then 40 minutes to Manarola and a final 20 minutes to Riomaggiori. After seeing the 5 beautiful little villages/towns we felt that Mary had made the best choice by booking our hotel where she had.
Our last day in Cinque Terre consisted of a ferry boat trip along the coast with a water view to the towns and then we went on to Porto Venere. What a find! The stone church at the top stands alongside the castle at the mouth of the port.
Everyone needs to get to the Cinque Terre....my suggestion would be for a week at the end of a European vacation.
